New Asante Kotoko coach Steve Pollack claims his players are still in the title race as the second half of the Ghana Premier League begins this weekend.

Birmingham-born Pollack will take charge of his first league game of the season on Sunday at Tema Youth, armed with a simple yet complicated mandate. The simple bit is that he has to halt Kotoko's recent slide down the league table and get them to finish as high as possible.

The complicated bit relates to just how poorly Kotoko have played recently....

The Black Stars recovered from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Benin in a warm up game and their first international assignment under new boss Kwesi Appiah.

Benin scored first through striker Ogoulola Ibrahim who took advantage of poor judgement from Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori to drive home the opener.

They held till the end of the first half when Hearts of Oak's Patrick Razak went down in the box under a challenge before defender Aawal Mohammed converted calmly.

Christian Atsu has impressed during a season-long loan spell with Newcastle United.

Emmanuel Frimpong is rebuilding his career at Eskilstuna, his fourth club since leaving Arsenal in 2014.

ESKILSTUNA, Sweden -- Emmanuel Frimpong was feeling the back of his leg as he walked out of the home changing room after AFC Eskilstuna's latest home match.

A tweaked hamstring was the latest niggle in an injury-plagued few years for the former Arsenal midfielder. It's been a stop-start season in what has been a stop-start career so far for Frimpong.

The 25-year-old's latest appearance came on Sunday as a 74th-minute substitute against Hacken. Wearing the No. 20 shirt with "Frimmy" on the back,...

Ghana team celebrates victory during the 2017 Under 17 Africa Cup of Nations Finals football match between Ghana and Gabon at the Port Gentil Stadium, Gabon.

Sometime in January last year, at the Opoku Ware Senior High School in Kumasi, several teenagers clutched their boots and gathered with one objective; to catch the eye of selectors for the Ghana Under-17 side.

Apart from one or two journalists, team officials, a few club owners, and a scout or two, no one particularly cared, because the general feeling was that Ghanaians did not care about age group competitions.

Years of failure, a ban for age cheating, and growing disenchantment with the...
