Record-breaking Chicharito must keep scoring if Mexico are to have success

Herculez Gomez and Sebastian Salazar preview Mexico's busy summer schedule, as well as key players to keep an eye on.
Alejandro Moreno says MLS should go all out to lure Javier Hernandez, regardless of his hefty salary demands.

Mexico's busy summer began with an unanticipated loss as, in front of 62,000+ spectators at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, El Tri was defeated 2-1 by Croatia on Saturday. The absence of several noteworthy players for the victors will lead to many questions for Mexico.

However, there was one silver lining from the evening: A record-breaking goal for Javier Hernandez.

Chicharito makes history, Diego Reyes falters in Mexico's loss

Diego Reyes and El Tri stumbled in the first half, allowing Croatia to score twice.

Mexico's national team started off a busy summer with an unexpected 2-1 loss to Croatia at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. After the first 45 minutes, El Tri was down 2-0, but in the second half they recuperated and were able to get one back. Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez scored Mexico's only goal and became the national team's all-time leading goal scorer with 47.

El Tri's U.S. Tour continues with a trip to MetLife Stadium, where they'll meet Ireland next Thursday.

Croatia spoils Javier Hernandez's record-setting night in Mexico loss

Javier Hernandez celebrates after scoring a Mexico-record 47th goal for country in a loss to Croatia.

Three thoughts following Mexico's 2-1 friendly loss to Croatia in Los Angeles.

1. Chicharito breaks scoring record

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez became Mexico's record scorer on Saturday, but he couldn't stop El Tri from falling 2-1 to Croatia in a friendly in L.A. Memorial Coliseum.

Hernandez scored his 47th goal for Mexico -- to take him one beyond Jared Borgetti -- three minutes from the end as the team came close to equalizing, but couldn't find a second.
