Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez was on fire for Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Former Mexico national team manager Ricardo La Volpe is the new head coach of Club America.

The Liga MX giants announced the deal on Thursday and said he would be in charge for Saturady's home game against Mexico City rival Pumas.

The 64-year-old coach, who led Chiapas last season, signed a contract until the end of the Clausura 2017 season and will challenge on three fronts -- Liga MX, Copa MX and Club World Cup -- between now and the end of the year.

The United States will host Mexico in November's World Cup qualifier in Columbus, Ohio.

The Nov. 11 game at Columbus Crew SC's MAPFRE Stadium will open the fifth and final round of CONCACAF qualifying, known as the "Hex."

Columbus has been the site for every U.S. home game against Mexico in the Hex since 2001. The U.S. won the four games in 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013 -- all by a score of 2-0.
