The World Cup stadium in St. Petersburg is eight years behind schedule.

A top official from football's governing body says he is satisfied with progress in the construction of a 2018 World Cup stadium in St. Petersburg, which is years behind schedule and vastly over its original budget.

The stadium, which is to host next year's Confederations Cup matches, was meant to be completed in 2008 and is six times over its original budget.

FIFA has given former vice president Jeffrey Webb a lifelong ban for taking bribes.

A FIFA delegation visited the stadium on Saturday and the federation's director of competitions, Colin Smith, said progress "is clearly...

Messi, Neymar, Pogba and Italy's teen sensation headline international break

Your favorite team's season has only just started up, you're psyched to see whatever new signings arrived in the final hours of the transfer window and -- boom! -- everybody leaves. They're off with their national sides and it will feel like an eternity without football.

Except you're not without football. It's just a different kind: same actors, different stage. Like seeing Bryan Cranston in the theater rather than cooking up some meth on your TV in "Breaking Bad." Truth be told, there's plenty...
